Poppies Etude

A field of poppies is approached as an étude in rhythm, colour and repeated form. Thick palette-knife strokes build an impressionistic surface in which individual flowers appear and disappear within the movement of the field. The work is presented in an original handmade frame conceived as part of the painting rather than as a separate border.
